[Nahyuta is following his usual evening routine, in the midst of tidying things away in the lounge and kitchen before his evening meditation. When Rayfa approaches, though, the interruption is not an unwelcome one. He stops to turn to her.]
I-- [He's about to protest once again at 'Braid Head', but it's too late in the evening for an argument, so he thinks better of it.] ...I am your humble servant as always, Your Benevolence. How might I assist you?
[ once they've gotten home from the party, rayfa immediately runs to her room, leaving nahyuta and dhurke to deal with all the presents she's received. they can set it down in the living room or something, whatever! rayfa only comes out of her room maybe an hour or so later and slips a letter in the gap of nahyuta's door to his bedroom.
the letter is in khura'inese, and he'll be able to hear her scuttling away immediately (if he's in his room now, anyway) after the letter has been delivered. ]
Braid Head,
I am truly appreciative of the effort you have made for my birthday celebration. I am unable to speak of this to you as it is difficult to do so face to face, so I hope that this letter will be suitable enough. Perhaps I will be more comfortable speaking to you as a sister in the future. Please do not be offended, as it is still very difficult.
I do not wish for you to be offended when I refer to you as Braid Head, as well. It is not meant as an insult, but rather, a term of endearment. However, I will try to be more careful of my usage of it, so that you do not feel embarrassed in public if it truly bothers you so much.
However, it is very easy to say thank you. I had never celebrated my day of birth in that manner, and it was an experience I will never forget. I do hope that you can inform me when your day of birth is, so that I may also surprise you in the same way, or possibly even do more.
I also look forward to our next food excursion.
Do not speak of this letter to anyone, including myself. If you wish to respond to this letter, then you may do so by writing to me.
[Nahyuta hopes he misheard that, or this is supposed to mean something profound that he just hasn't explained yet. But no, it literally just sounds like he's being called an old man.]
[On Christmas morning, there is a small box delivered to Nahyuta’s place of residence. It’s wrapped in gold paper and topped with a green bow. A little note is tucked beneath it.]
Nahyuta,
Hap’piraki! Hope these come in handy. I saw them and they reminded me of you! Merry Christmas :)
-Maya Fey
[Inside the long box lies a set of yellow prayer beads and a small, silver lotus charm attached. Please don’t throw them at anyone...]
[Considering Nahyuta doesn't celebrate Christmas, he wasn't expecting to receive any gifts from anyone, especially after the generosity that was shown for Rayfa's party. So to receive a gift the next day is a pleasant surprise, so much so that he can't help but contact Maya to let her know.]
Thank you for the gift, Maya Fey. It is both beautiful and practical.
[He sends her an image to show that he's wearing it in place of his usual red prayer beads. Perhaps these new ones will be saved for special occasions.]
[ rayfa knocks on nahyuta's doorstep and immediately leaves. when he opens the door, he'll find a small box on the floor, addressed to him. in the box is a mug. there is a small envelope, and a letter which reads: ]
Braid Head,
You may drink your pumpkin spice latte in this. If father asks who gave this to you, you must not speak a word.
Yours truly, Rayfa Padma Khura'in
[ inside the mug is a necklace, too. a butterfly necklace — purple, which seems fitting for nahyuta. there's no mention of anything of it from the letter, though. ]
[Although Nahyuta is starting to find all this letter-writing and secrecy a little absurd, he's trying to be patient with Rayfa. So, rather than try to speak to her face to face or contact her over the amulet, he slides another note under her door.]
Your Benevolence,
Thank you for the mug. I am sure it will be very useful.
However, inside the mug I found a necklace. Did you drop this in by mistake? If so, please let me know, and I can give it back to you.
Your humble servant, Nahyuta
[... She didn't mention it in the letter, after all! And she did get a lot of jewellery at the party, which makes him think it might be a genuine mistake.]
[ Sometime in the evening, Nahyuta will receive three things at his doorstep: a long white box containing a fabulous scarf, a bouquet of lillies, and a note that says: ]
Nahyuta,
Thank you for all you have done these past few weeks. Without you, I fear I would still be lost.
I am happy to call you my friend. And if you ever have need to me, know that I will not hesitate to help you as well.
[ In the morning, there is a neatly wrapped package at Nahyuta's doorstep. Inside are a few things -- a coat and a ton of Christmassweets. There's a perfectly folded letter inside as well, and when Nahyuta opens it........ red and green glitter falls out. ]
Prosecutor Sahdmadhi,
Merry Christmas! I know you guys don't celebrate this particular holiday, but I wanted to get you something anyways. I hope the gifts are to your liking, and that you, Her Benevolence, and your father are having a wonderful day!
[ it's nighttime on the 1st and dhurke hasn't come back yet. rayfa was planning on showing him something that she made so she's been waiting on the couch for hours now. waiting isn't exactly her forte so she's been getting antsy and more annoyed by the second.
which is why she goes to look for nahyuta in their small home. maybe he knows what happened to dhurke? she isn't panicking just yet or considering that dhurke may have left this realm. but she's about to, soon. just give her a few more minutes. ]
[Nahyuta feels guilty for not telling Rayfa the reason Dhurke was away, but Dhurke had asked him not to. Wanting to honour their father's wishes, he hasn't brought it up with her... and nor does he really want to, considering the harrowing reason why he's away.
When Rayfa finds him with a book in his room, though, he looks up.]
I'm reading. Is there something I can help you with?
[He's not trying to sound dismissive; it's a genuine question, considering he's practically like a houseservant to her a lot of the time, smh.]
[As he promised, Dhurke will seek Nahyuta out to have a meditation session with him a few days after the Selenium festival. He can only hope it'll be a pleasant experience without incident. Keeping his body rooted in one place for a long period of time is something he could teach himself to do once more, it's keeping his mind focused on the task that might prove difficult. ]
So, where shall we settle down to do this? [He'll ask once Nahyuta was out of his room. If he had any concerns about this, he's not making it obvious. Although he seem calmer than usual. Then again, he was up earlier than usual in order to do this with his son.]
[Despite the early hour, Nahyuta is already bright-eyed and immaculate-looking as usual as he leaves his room to meet Dhurke, pulling on his sherwani and adjusting his prayer beads. Considering just how early it is, maybe he just wakes up without a hair out of place and jewellery magically adorned, who knows.]
I prefer to meditate outdoors where I might be closest to nature, preferably near the forest on the town outskirts. I trust that is not too far a walk for you?
[This is Dhurke he's talking to, who has no concept of 'too far', but he might as well ask.]
[Today, Nahyuta will find several thoughtfully wrapped bags of chocolate in the mail--one for each member of their household. Each has a personal, handwritten note to go along with it, and his says:]
Dear Prosecutor Sahdmadhi,
Happy Valentine's Day. I've made some chocolates for the occasion and I hope you find them to your liking. Thank you for all your support the past months, both here in Empatheias as well as back in our world. I hope we'll continue to get along in the future.
[It had admittedly slipped Nahyuta's mind that this day had any significance in Ema's country. Nonetheless, the chocolates are gratefully received, and he hurries to return the favour in kind. She receives some chocolates in return -- although not handmade, given the last-minute nature of the gift -- along with a single red rose.]
Dear Detective Skye,
Thank you for the kind gifts, and I hope you will accept mine in return. Although in Khura'in a cut flower might represent the mere transience and fragility of life, I have read that abroad, it can also be used as a token of affection. That is my intention here.
Likewise, I must thank you for the generous support you have given to me. I consider your companionship as something to be treasured above all gifts.

Hello. I have been told that if I have questions about meditation that you might be a person I could seek out for advice.
((OOC: I haven't played Spirit of Justice yet but I certainly plan to in the future so no spoilers if you don't mind.))
Voice - apologies for the lateness! and no worries, I can avoid spoilers
You have been directed to the right place, friend. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have; you need but ask.
